My design research for Shining Willow sought to understand the lived experience of Baltimore City Public School families who are seeking an alternative education for their children. Shining Willow has been incorporating these insights and feedback into the formation of a future school. Ideas that were generated with community members across several facilitated brainstorming events are being implemented and prototyped to meet the needs of families in Baltimore and serve Shining Willow’s strategic mission and vision.

If we include Baltimore families in the design of our future school, the school that manifests will better reflect the holistic and equity needs of its community.
