Design for the environment
A collaborative Approach to environmental change
As our planet faces the realities of climate change, each region, species and even organism is affected by human impacts. How we choose to steward the land, air, and water we share matters. There’s plenty of designing - and redesigning - to be done in confronting environmental challenges and changing the trajectory for our shared ecology. My work in this field seeks to address questions like:
“How do we shift human values and behavior towards environmental stewardship?”
“How can we leverage power in anchor institutions to pave the way towards best practices?”
“What does equitable, community-led, collaboration and strategy for transition look like?”
When framing an environmental design challenge alongside community experts, I seek to immerse myself and understand the context. While centering our shared values and visions, I work with collaborators to identify key actors and social levers to pull and push strategically for change. Whether your organization is working to save an endangered species, protect our waterways, or encourage more composting, investing in a design-thinking process can reveal and generate surprisingly effective outcomes.
